History and Overview of the Unit
Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary School's NPCC unit was set up in 1968. Mr. Quek Soo Khee from First Toa Payoh Secondary School came over to A.I.S.S as the acting Officer- in-charge to assist the school to set up the NPCC unit. Shortly after, Mr. Liew Han Seng took over the role.

In 1969, the unit was officially formed with Mr. Freddie Liew being the first Officer-in-charge of the unit and among the first batch of officers were Mr. Koh Nia Chuan, Mrs. Ong Leong Kee and Mr. Mahad. At the time, the Police Cadet Corps (PCC) was renamed NCC (Police) upon integration with the Army, Sea and Air Corps. Thus, the unit was known as A. I.S.S NCC (Police). It was in 1972 that the unit was renamed A.I.S.S NPCC (National Police Cadet Corps) Unit, in line with the change of name of the corps.

A.I.S.S NPCC was formed in 1969. Our unit had come a long way to be one of the best in the country every year. All young Singaporeans are given a chance to join our elite family to show their potential and leadership as a cadet of the cadet corps that has the largest number of enrolment in the country.

"Everyone has a seed of greatness inside them, your job is to nurture it."

This is a strong belief that our unit upholds with integrity while developing our cadets into individuals with potential.

Our cadets will pick up skills such as footdrills, armdrills, campcraft, revolver and rifle shooting. Besides these, sing-a-long sessions, physical training, recreational activities and lectures are also included so as to train our cadets physically and mentally. While learning these skills, values such as endurance and co-operation are instilled into our cadets. Strong emphasis is on the cadets’ academic performance too as we had mentioned in our objectives.

Objectives
  • To complement the cadets’ academic education by providing the cadets with healthy group interaction and activities to develop their mental alertness, physical bearing, fitness, discipline and a more rounded personality.
  • To develop in the cadets the qualities of self reliance, resilience and good character, i.e. courtesy, integrity, obedience to law and order, civic consciousness and public spiritedness and the sense of responsibility and qualities of leadership.
  • To inculcate in the cadets a loyalty to the Group, Corps and States.
  • To imbue them with an awareness to their citizen’s responsibility towards:
    • The welfare and security of the State.
    • The maintenance of law and order.
  • To prepare the boys for, and to cultivate in them the right attitude towards National Service.

Our Mission

The mission of the National Police Cadet Corps is to develop its cadets into caring and responsible citizens

Our Vision

To Mould the Builders of A Safe and Secure Home
Our Core Values
In accordance with our mission and observing our objectives, we believe that our association with the National Police Cadet Corps will:
  1. Ensure our growth by exposing us to a challenging environment, which in turn, will imbibe us with leadership qualities, a strong character and civic, social and moral values.
  2. Enlighten us on the role of the Singapore Police Force, help to build a stronger bond of friendship with them, and so lead to a safer place for all in the country.
  3. As part of a culture that encourages us to treat fellow cadets with respect, courtesy and tact, teach us to extend the same care and concern to others.
  4. As a result of our identification with the Singapore Police Force, teach us to adopt its tradition of high standard of performance, commitment to duty and service, to seek to excel and to face up challenge.
Unit Formation Sign

The torch with its red glowing flame symbolizes the light of integrity and the warmth of compassion. It inspires every pupil to bear the truth, stand up for righteousness and at the same time to have a heart for others, serve those in need.

The twirling background design together with the torch is a stylized depiction of the letters, “ai”, the abbreviated form of the school name, Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary School.

The green colour shows our shared value of harmony in a multi-racial, multi-religious school and the silver colour, our perseverance in the pursuit of excellence.

Achievements
To increase the general knowledge of our cadets, enrichment courses such as SANA, Police Knowledge, Civil Defence and the NCO Modular course are arranged for them to attend. They are also attached to the following Units: Criminal Investigation Department, Police Coast Guard, Police Dog Unit and the Subordinate Court.

Functions and activities such as the Annual Orientation, Annual Opening Parade, Unit Hike, Games Day, Installation cum Farewell Party and camps such as the NCO camp and the Annual Camp are held to promote integration among cadets and officers. Adventure trips to Berkelah Waterfall in Kuantan also enable our cadets to experience and adventurous trip.

Our unit is proud of the achievements we have made for the past few years. In 1998, out of the hundred-odd schools that participated in the Bi-annual Inter Unit Campcraft Competition held at the Training Command, our boys and girls emerged 2nd and 3rd at the National Level respectively. Similarly, in year 2000, our boys and girls team emerged the 6th and 5th position at the National Level respectively. The unit also received the Unit Proficiency Silver Award during the NPCC Day Parade on the 29 th April 2000 at the Training Command.

With these events, activities, attachment, courses, functions and achievements our unit are able to carry out the Mission, the Core Values and the Objectives of NPCC well. These make us able to develop our cadets into caring and responsible citizens, similarly training them with a more rounded personality.
