Introduction
The AI Dance Society started off as different racial dance groups. A few years ago, the various groups came together to form a dynamic dance group and took part in the Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging, and school musicals such as the West Side Story.
Since 2004, the dance society family has grown bigger and more adventurous, taking part in more dance competitions and was more active than ever. We even came in first in a competition organized by Yishun JC in 2004 and went into the finals in the FUNTASTIC dance competition in the same year.
Apart from performing in major school events, the “AI DANCE” was choreographed and since then, it has played a major role in Sec 1 Orientation camps and ACES day. |

Dancers are exposed to a wide range of dance genres such as Chinese dance, Malay dance, Indian dance, Contemporary dance, Lindy Hop, Hip Hop, Jazz Ballet, Street Jazz and other Jazz forms. Although they may not have excelled in all dance genres, but the learning experience has always been enjoyable for the dancers.
We have also visited the Singapore Dance Theatre and Lasalle-SIA to learn more about dance. Our dance group also performed in Sree Narayana Mission Home and took part in fund raising programmes. |

Programmes:
This year, headed by 3 teachers: Miss Lee Lijun, Miss Chew Jia Zhen Geraldine and Mdm Shue Guat Eng, the dance society is ready for new and exciting challenges.
The Sec 1 Dance programme has also been organized by the AI Dance Society. Students have learnt Cha Cha, Mambo, Modern Jazz and Street Jazz. Due to the support and interest from students, we are able to organize the 4 th Sec 1 Dance programme, offering more options to students – MTV dance, Lyrical Jazz and Contemporary dance.
Besides visiting Performing Arts Schools, our highlights for the year include Stage Make Up workshops conducted by a professional make up artist, Wushu workshop at Dance Ensemble Singapore and Dance camps with well-known dance instructors in Singapore . We also hope to continue to reach out to the community and bring joy to the less fortunate. |
