Introduction
Basketball was invented around 150 years ago and has continued to go more and more popular worldwide. It is a game where two teams compete to score as many points as they can to win the game. In Singapore, the length of a game is around 40 minutes, with 4 quarters of 10 minutes game each.
The AISS basketball team consists of the C Division boys and girls, as well as the B Divisions. Every year, these 4 teams compete in the North Zone Competitions held to try and secure a place in the Top 4 positions in order to qualify for the Nationals Competitions. This is where the Top 4 teams of each zone come together to pit their skills against one another.
For the past 3 years (including 2009), the B Division Girls team have done the school proud by making it to the National Competitions. This has helped the school clinch a SAA (Sustained Achievement Award) for the Basketball team.
Below are some of the other achievements of the various Divisions.
