Concert Band

Introduction
The concert band is a music community in Ahmad Ibrahim Secondary School. The 50 strong music community comprises different people bonded by a similar passion: music. Despite the conversion from a military band in 2001, it has continued to excel in its area of expertise. With consistent practice and hard work, the band strives for excellence and perfection in the expression of music.

Awards
The band achieved awards in major competitions including silver medals for SYF in 2003, 2005 and 2007 (3 consecutive silver medals). The band was awarded a bronze and a silver medal for National Band Competition in 2006 and 2008 respectively.

Activities

The band’s aim is to instill discipline and musicality into every band member. The band engages in fun activities like Music Exchange Programmes, Band outings, public concerts and school performances. They help to strengthen bonds among the members while gaining knowledge and experience.

The band recruits members from different musical backgrounds and the members who are new will be groomed and nurtured into passionate musicians.

Band practices do not just include music practice itself, but also foot drills and marches which are necessary for character development and discipline in music.

Under the baton of Mr Kendrick Poh, the band performs at its best and receives many opportunities to display its abilities. Teachers-in-charge, Mr. Zee Kok Eng, Mrs. Sharon Heng and Mdm. Loh offer their full support to the band and devote much of their time to the band.

Band members will develop into confident and intelligent individuals. They always strive to stay true to the band’s motto: Music From the Heart is Most Pure.
